Family murder inquiry turns focus to neighbouring house
Geesche Jacobsen and Dylan Welch
POLICE have refused to comment on reports that the electricity to the house where the Lin family was murdered was cut before the killings.
Last night police were continuing their investigations into the Lin family murders near the house of the relatives who found their bodies on Saturday.
Despite the investigation of the area, the head of the homicide squad, Geoff Beresford, said last night that police were satisfied "that the house is in no way associated with the crime".
The investigations had started about 3.30pm when a neighbour of the Beck Street property was seen talking to police. Police said a member of the community had reported seeing a stain in the area near the carport of the relatives' home. After five hours of examination, police removed a garbage bin from a neighbouring property.
A detective at the scene would not say what they had found.
Superintendent Beresford also refused to comment on reports that the electricity had been cut. He rejected suggestions, in the same commercial television news report, about the order in which family members might have been murdered as "pure speculation", saying police were still awaiting autopsy results before being able to determine such detail.
Other crime scene officers were finishing their six-day investigation at the Lin family home last night.
