女儿写的一点关于Hunger Games 《饥饿游戏》这本书的读后感： The Hunger Games I Some books have the power of sucking their reader in, and making the readers’ most important goal to finish it. The Hunger Games is one book that has and will forever throw me into it’s whirl-wind adventures. The book, written in the perspective of Katniss Everdeen, transports us to a place, perhaps a country where there are 13 districts all under the rule of Capitol. Well, there were 13 until one of them was destroyed. This place is cruel, unfair and full of injustice. If you take one extra grain of rice, you will get a severe beating. If you hunt for food to fill yours and your family’s stomach you might get beat to death. What’s even scarier is that the Capitol keeps track of each little movement that you do. One sentence that stuck to me was “Hope is the only thing stronger than fear. A little hope is fine, but a lot is destructive. This book emphasises on the word hope. When Katniss was hopeless, she started a rebellion against the most ‘brutal’ but powerful government. Even the prime minister said that the only reason why the Hunger Games exist is to control the hope and keep an uprise from starting. Will Katniss succeed or will she become a tyrant too? Katniss is a 16 year old who illegally hunts to keep food on the table for her family. Since her father died, she became the head of her family made up of her mother, little sister and her. The story is built on how Katniss protects her beloved little sister, Prim in anyway she can. Katniss illegally hunts for Prim, works her hardest to feed Prim, substitutes Prim when she was chosen to fight to death in an arena, almost bombed to death for Prim, almost dies of thirst for Prim, almost gets cut to a thousand pieces for Prim……. Every sacrifice urges me to read on. Every sentence makes me want to read more. My 3 favourite characters are Rue, Gale and Haymitch. Gale, Katniss’ hunting partner & closest friend, helps feed her family when she is on the battle grounds. Teaches Katniss life saving advice and supports her all the way through. Haymitch is a character that cannot be forgotten when read. He is always drunk, but also one of the most important people to Katniss on the battle field. He is her tutor, life saver and ‘most friendly enemy’. Rue met Katniss on the battle ground & they quickly became friends. Though their time was short, it eas on of the happiest. This book is made about purposefully exaggerated reality. It highlights the cruelness of government and how scary power is. All in all, this book is an amazing, action-packed adventure and I would recommend it to everyone. |
