Overview
The Northern Suburbs Basketball Association provides a wide range of development and participation programs for junior players and is committed to the ongoing development and enjoyment of young players.
Our programs are designed to encourage enjoyment and participation, under the instruction of experienced and qualified coaches and presenters. All sessions are planned in detail and structured to enhance the learning, improvement and enjoyment of all participants.
This is the same for our range of school holiday camps, where we offer a variety of camps suitable from the 5 year-old beginner, right through to the experienced 16 year-old representative players.

Development & Participation Programs
Bear Essentials – Aussie Hoops Learn to Play Program
Learn to Play program designed to introduce 5 – 10 year olds to basketball
45-minute lessons, conducted Monday afternoon 4pm – 4.45pm or 4.45pm – 5.30pm
No competition component, this program is purely about participation, learning and developing confidence
Coaching is provided players from the Norths Bears senior representative program and accredited development coaches

Little Bears League – Aussie Hoops Introduction to Games Program
Held after school Monday (Grades 3 and 4), Tuesday (Grades 3 and 4), Wednesday (Grades 1 and 2) and Thursday (Grades 1 and 2)
A link between Bear Essentials and our junior competitions, the Little Bears League includes a 10-minute training and skills session and a 35-minute modified rules game
Coaching is provided by NSBA development coaches, under the guidance of the NSBA Development Officer
This program is a great way to prepare for competition play in a non-competitive environment

Rep Ready Program
Development program designed to assist under 12 and 14 players (9 – 13 year olds) develop their skills and understanding of the game
This program is conducted by the NSBA Development & Participation Officer with support from elite players from the Norths Bears Senior Representative Program
This program runs every Wednesday afternoon of school terms 4.15pm – 5.30pm

Bears Shooting School
Offered in Terms Two and Four each year and suitable to players 10 – 15 years
This program focuses on teaching, improving and developing shooting technique in young players
The 6-week programs are coached by the NSBA Development Manager and NSBA Development Officer and offer detailed and specific instruction on this important aspect of the game
Aussie Hoops Pink Ball
Offered in Terms One and Four, this program is an introduction to basketball skills development program for girls aged 5 – 9 years
The program is designed to encourage girls to get involved with basketball and gain confidence through a series of fun drills and basketball-related activities
Coaching by female players from the Norths Bears senior representative program
School Holiday Camps
Hoops Holiday Camps
Players aged 6 – 13 years
Conducted each school holidays
Suitable for players interested in learning new skills
Coaching from experienced development coaches
Focus on skill development
Camps are held over two days during school holiday periods, with multiple camps being conducted each time to provide options for parents

Experts Camps
Players 11 – 16 years
Designed to provide players with specific skills and concept development
Coaching from experienced development coaches and high profile guest coaches
Covering a wide range of skills, including shooting camps, positional play and strength and conditioning
Camps are held over 2 ½ hours during school holiday periods

Specialist Camps
Players 11 – 16 years
These camps are suited to more experienced players
Coaching is provided by national level, high profile guest coaches
Camps include specific skills, strength and conditioning, access to the NSBA automated shooting return system and more
Camps are held over 2 ½ hours during school holiday periods
