Private property developer and fashion boss Danny Avidan has emerged as the buyer of the Legion Cabs site on Foveaux Street in Surry Hills for $18 million.
It is tipped that Mr Avidan, husband of fashion designer Charlie Brown, will turn the site into apartments.
In a packed auction room on Friday, the bidding opened at $9.88 million, with three parties pushing the price quickly beyond $13 million through auctioneer James Price.
The 1370-square-metre property at 69-81 Foveaux Street represents one of Surry Hills' largest ready-to-develop sites, with flexible zoning permitting a range of uses
