My first brand new car was a Toyota Avalon. This was my 3rd car.
One afternoon in December 2007, I was driving in Castle Hill. All of sudden, I heard a big bang on my car. Then 2nd, 3rd ...... I realised it was a Hail Storm! I quickly left the main road and parked under a tree in the street. The hails constantly droped through the branches onto my car windows, roof, windscreen. One huge one followed by many of small ones. Straight after the one smashed on the roof, another hugh one stroke on the windscreen. Sitting in the car, the fear was way beyond you could possibly imagine. I asked my daughter to cover her head with her hands at the first place. As it got worse, I got her to lay down so I could cover her with my body. I prayed to God to let it over ASAP..... The 10 minutes hailing seems days long, it was unforgetalbe 10 minutes in my life.
The dents were everywhere on the body of my car. Luckily, my uninsured windscreen wasn't broken. My car was covered by leaves and branches and dirts as much as the whole Castle Hill. I didn't care about the damages as long as we were both ok. When I was checking it afterwards, there was a Chinese couple walked passed. The man was giggling with his wife with a big smile on his face. I had no doublt he was happy that his car wasn't sufferred the same. How strange it is to see no sympathy in this country especially from my country man. What can I say??
I rang up my insurer on the following day and was suggested to ring back later as they had thousands of claims.... I finally had my car accessed yesterday. I was suprised to learn that it would cost $10k to fits all the dents and was suggested a total lost. I will say good bye to my 1st brand new car soon. Sad but such as life! I only look forward to seeing my new car now.
