最惨的公立普通中学，除去那个音乐学院，100名里只有5个，结论就是公立普通中学依旧很烂。

Killara High沉寂了一年，再度成为普通公校的冠军。
Cherrybrook Technology High School第二名，Cherrybrook的房价会继续上涨

假设你对你孩子将来读书成绩好坏一无所知，再假设你也是穷人（无法考虑私校），那么
买房子的时候考虑学校的时候，你看看HSC TOP100/200里的那些普通公立中学就行了，很容易找因为他们的数量很稀少

所以结论是：
Killara的房子会涨（不过好像本来就很高了）
Cherrybrook会涨
Cheltenham会涨
Turramurra 会涨
Carlingford会涨

JAMES RUSE has topped the HSC performance list for the 14th consecutive year, but private schools in the eastern suburbs have pushed two other government selective high schools out of the top 10.

Ascham, Reddam House and Kambala have displaced North Sydney Boys High School and St George Girls High as well as another private school, SCEGGS Darlinghurst.

Reddam House in Bondi has jumped from 54th position to seventh, displacing Sydney Boys High School, according to a Herald analysis of results ranking schools according to the percentage of students who scored 90 or above in at least one subject. Sydney Boys was ranked ninth this year.

The government selective school St George Girls in Kogarah was pushed out of 10th position last year into 12th this year and North Sydney Boys High School has moved from sixth position last year to 14th.

The first comprehensive government high schools to appear on the Herald's list are Killara High School in 54th position and Cherrybrook Technology High School in 59th.

The managing director of Reddam House, Graeme Crawford, said this was the second time his school had appeared in the Herald's top 10 in the eight years since it began offering the HSC.

''Being non-selective, we have different strengths from year to year,'' he said. ''We prepare our students with regular cycle testing from primary school. Kids understand how to approach an exam innately.''

Ascham's head, Louise Robert-Smith, said that although she does not ''put a lot of store in league tables'', she was pleased to see her school, which was ranked 19th last year, move into fifth position this year.

''I think our league table results are going to vary from year to year because we are a non-selective school,'' she said. ''But the way we run our curriculum does enable us to concentrate on individual students and their needs.''

The principal of Kambala, Margaret White, used her school's ascension to the HSC honours list from 14th to eighth position to criticise the popular focus on league tables.

''I would despair if a parent based their decision of choosing a school on these tables,'' she said. ''The tables devalue the hard work by students who may have developed markedly but failed to reach a band six.

''Surely a school should be about the plethora of experience made available to students. The development of personal excellence is just as important, the whole package.''

SCEGGS Darlinghurst has moved from ninth to 16th.

A post-HSC review led the government selective school Gosford High to refocus students on the basics of written and verbal communication skills for this year's examinations.

The acting principal, Kerry Fraser, said the approach can be viewed as simplistic but the review of the 2008 results benefited the student cohort this year. ''Our kids are quite articulate, but we realised that the ability to answer exam questions more thoroughly can be overlooked,'' Ms Fraser said.

The Minister for Education, Verity Firth, said that in the four hours since HSC results were released at 6am yesterday, almost 57,000 students had accessed their HSC results.

That included more than 45,000 internet downloads, 11,000 mobile phone text messages and 23 students who accessed their results through their PlayStations.

Ms Firth said the number of students from rural and regional high schools who topped their subject had doubled from 12 last year to 24 this year.

''If there are any students out there who are disappointed [with their results], please don't worry,'' Ms Firth said.

''There are a myriad of pathways to getting to the course that you want to do.''

Carlingford High干的不错，最近4年有3年排名在前100，超过了老对手Epping Boys，也不枉我花高价买了校区的房子。
不过再涨也比较困难了，房子已经是天价了

另外，今天的the Daily Telegraphe的报道说，
联邦教育部已经在建设的新网站http://www.myschool.edu.au/从明年开始将全面比较各个中学小学academic方面的成绩，包括了每年的NAPLAN成绩和2009年的HSC成绩。
这个记者说这是一件大好事，因为以往不公开不透明的信息披露，媒体和家长们只能知道HSC的DA rate（>90），这样的TOP100/200其实对大家来看一个学校还是相对“片面”的，因为可能一个学校在HSC里DA（大于90）就只有10%，但是85-89可能有50%，我们能够说这是学校不行吗？再比如，一个学校DA有25%，大家都说好，但是这个学校可能有50%的学生成绩都在60以下，我们能说这个学校好吗？
明年在MYSCHOOL的网站上，教育部都会把这样的信息公开，让家长们能够更全面的了解在这些TOP数字之外，正态分布里大部分学生的区域的和另外一个极差区域的相关信息。

所以，Daily Telegraphe说家长们只能看看HSC TOP100/200信息的时代结束了。
明年开始将会有更多的“排行榜”出现。。。

另外报纸还大幅报道了悉尼南区的公立中学Menai High School（有1090名学生）的独特教学方法：
Year11的学生一个星期上四天课！
这次HSC成绩很不错，DA排在103位，成绩比去年大幅提高了37位。

A UNIQUE teaching program which includes a four-day week for senior students is returning amazing HSC results for a small high school on Sydney's suburban fringes.
Menai High School is blazing a trail of success in the HSC including a top five placing for its students in advanced English.

It scored 103 mentions on the distinguished achievers list in the HSC, jumping 37 places on the top schools honour roll.

More than 68 per cent of Menai students received a top band six result in advanced English - finishing behind only selective James Ruse Agricultural High, Baulkham Hills High and Brigidine College Randwick.

Half of the Menai students who undertook the difficult mathematics extension 2 course and 40 per cent of its history extension candidates also made the distinguished achievers list.

As more than 68,000 students received their HSC results yesterday, educators attributed Menai's extraordinary advances to a "systematic approach" to improving results including university-style tutorials.

Acting deputy principal Bruce Redman said students in Year 11 spent every Thursday away from normal classes in "tutorials, seminars or reviewing work".
"We think the system is working extremely well as it allows us to cover a lot of the mandatory curriculum during the week," Mr Redman said.

Mr Redman said senior students doing subjects such as geography took educational excursions outside the school on the "free" day which minimised disruption to their class work during the rest of the week.

今年新的大学入学评估Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR)第一次使用，用来代替原来的UAI -University Admissions Index，满分是99.95。
今年有48位学生的取得了Perfect score 99.95，其中25位女生，23位男生。
今年ATAR的平均分是70.25分，也就是说在HSC的成绩里考生要拿到70-80分之间的成绩才行。

End of the wait for university aspirants

MORE than 50,000 HSC students will be finding out from today if their HSC results are good enough to get them into the university course of their choice.

Students can access their Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) on the internet from 9am (AEDT) today, and for those who can wait, ATAR notices will arrive in the mail from tomorrow.

The ATAR replaces the old University Admissions Index.

This year, 48 students received the top ATAR score of 99.95.

Of those, 25 were female and 23 were male, and they came from both public and private.

The middle ATAR score this year is 70.25.

To obtain this ranking, students generally needed to be in the middle of their courses, and receive HSC marks between 70 and 80.

ATAR scores can be accessed on www.uac.edu.au, with a University Admissions Centre (UAC) application number or HSC student number and UAC PIN needed to obtain the result.

她压力不小，NSW州一直在反对，她对此无论是回应还是措施非常tough。

他们应该是在101-200名之间。
很可惜的是今年我们可能见不到TOP200的排名了，因为NSW的新的LAW禁止新闻媒体和出版商公布除了Rankings of TOP 10% of school。
所以就有可能今年就只有TOP100了，不得不说州议会非常的愚蠢（我个人意见）。

JR连续14年名列第一了，真是了不起。
不过今年BH的DA 66%大幅的接近JR，也属好事，如果连续几年保持这个成绩，NSW就会有两所超级中学。
