子女的教育就学议题总是牵动家长的心，让孩子上好校区的公立中学还是私立学校，有时候也让人难以取舍。

私立学校无论在师资力量、校园设施，还是学校财力、资源配给等方面都得天独厚；从高考的成绩来看，私立学校也无疑要比政府公立中学占有优势。

前阵子，墨尔本一名私校校长竟然声称公立学校是次等货，曾引起社会各界广泛争议。

无论如何，私校的各类学杂费用让一般收入的家长们望而生畏。据9月18日墨尔本大报《The Age》的最新报道，涨价后的维州私立学校下一学年学费将超过$20,000元，等于是家长每周要花费近$400元供自己的孩子读私校。据9月11日《悉尼晨锋报》报道，在过去的4年期间，悉尼的精英私立学校学费疯涨，涨幅高达53.4％，远远超过了同期通胀率的水平！

这些数据还仅仅是每学年的学费而已，事实上，大多数私校还有各种各样的其它杂费，比如，校服费，书本费，注册费，登记费，按金，自动捐献赞助费，课外活动费、外出露营费、音乐课程费、跨州甚至跨国旅行费、租用手提电脑费用等等。

还有就是校风问题。私校学生之间的确存在不同程度的互相攀比现象。有报道指由于私校学生手里零花钱相对较多，大麻、P毒品、摇头丸之类也更加流行。私校学生酗酒、吸毒现象比起公校可能更加严重。前天的《每日电讯报》（The Daily Telegraph ）就报道了这样一则新闻：

悉尼贵族中学学生利用假ID混入英王十字区酒吧喝酒正蔚然成风，未成年学生夜店酗酒问题越来越严重。

警方称在一次夜间行动中逮捕30个未成年酗酒者，但各个都持假身份证明。行动组长CHRIS FULLILOVE称许多学生向成年朋友或长得酷似的兄长借身份证，但也有一些人自制假身份证件或从网上购买。警方称那些准备使用不合法身份的人竟然有很多是在悉尼私立贵族中学学校读书的学生。

CHRIS FULLILOVE警官表示，“这已成了精英中学的传统，我们很少抓到政府公立中学的学生。”

警方频繁与校方联系并警告此问题，但并非所有学校都有反应。

“许多学校很支持，也很欢迎我们到学校去与学生交流。但一些学校仅在内部处理，也不欢迎我们的到访。而许多家长对警方也有所防范。”CHRIS FULLILOVE把这归咎于年轻人的文化问题，声称他们手上有钱，而且想快点长大。

警方对最近《每日电讯报》刊登的家长怂恿孩子酗酒比率上升的报道表示担忧，但就算罚款590元、捉拿归案和致电家长这样的警告也无法阻止此现象的发生。

警方称被捕的年轻人在15至17岁之间，他们会尽量逮捕并指控那些允许他人使用自己ID的成年人。英王十字区的地点也被贴上告示称警方会采取必要行动制止夜蒲酒吧的未成年人士。

SYDNEY high schools are breeding a culture of teens using fake identification to gain access to Kings Cross clubs, police have revealed.

It has emerged as a growing problem for police tackling the famous nightclub strip's underage drinking problems.

Officers say they catch as many as 30 underage drinkers in a night - all carrying fake ID.

Acting Sergeant Chris Fullilove said many of the cards were borrowed from older friends or siblings who shared a likeness. But there was also a growing trend of teens making their own cards or buying dodgy ID off the internet.

Police have noticed that those prepared to use illegal cards are from a select group of Sydney's private and exclusive schools.

"The more exclusive schools are the problem and it's a big cultural problem in them,'' Sgt Fullilove said.

"The fake IDs are being handed down from older kids to younger kids, from sister to sister and brother to brother.

"We catch hardly any from public schools.''

Sgt Fullilove said officers frequently contacted schools to alert them to the problem.

"We generally get a mixed reception,'' he said. "A lot of the schools are very supportive and are happy to have us come in and talk to the kids.

"But some only want to deal with it in-house and would prefer we didn't go there.''

Even more concerning is the reaction of some parents who become defensive towards police.

"I think it's a cultural problem where they (the teens) have plenty of money and they want to grow up too fast.'' Sgt Fullilove said.

Police concerns about underage clubbing come after The Daily Telegraph revealed new figures showing parents are being blamed for alarming binge drinking rates in teenagers.

Even fines of up to $590, as well as being arrested and having their parents called, is not proving a deterrent.

"It's extremely frustrating the number of kids doing this,'' Sgt Fullilove said. "We're trying to get the message out there that we will arrest them but the numbers aren't dropping.''

The ages of those caught vary from between 15 and 17 and Sgt Fullilove said "hundreds and hundreds'' were being arrested as a result of a string of operations.

He said police will also do their best to arrest and charge adults who allow their ID to be used by a minor.

He added licensed venues on the Kings Cross strip have also been put on notice that police will take any action necessary to curb under-age nightclubbers.

AN exclusive private school has been rocked by a drug scandal that has led to the expulsion of one student and the suspension of three others.

Xavier College was forced to expel a year 11 student for selling marijuana in the school yard.

Another three pupils were suspended after admitting they bought the drug from the student.

Two of the suspended teenagers will return to school at the beginning of next term, on Monday.

It is believed the expelled teenager has already been enrolled at another school.

Staff at Xavier decided not to go to police over the incident, instead referring the students concerned for counselling.

Students at the independent Catholic school, where parents pay more than $15,000 in fees for VCE students, were told about the incident at year-level assemblies.

Xavier deputy head Dominic Calipari yesterday confirmed that a year 11 student had been expelled in late February.

But Mr Calipari denied there had been a cover-up.

Otherwise, he said, "we wouldn't have gone to each year level and made it public".

But Opposition education spokesman Philip Davis said any school authorities who were aware of drug-selling in the school were obliged to report it to police.

"Schools have a duty of care to children," Mr Davis said.

"And there should be no other policy than zero tolerance regarding drugs."

Police yesterday declined to comment until they had full details of the drug incident.
Mr Calipari said some students came forward in February concerned that a student was selling marijuana.

"I approached the individual and he acknowledged it," he said.

"He admitted it to me when I asked him . . . and he actually brought me two samples."

Mr Calipari said the student, believed to be 16, knew the school's strict drug policy.

"He said he was happy to accept the punishment," the deputy head said.

But Mr Calipari said the teenager was unwilling to name any other students who bought the drug as he did not want to "dob in his mates".

The deputy head said the names of the three students who bought the marijuana were obtained from other students.

He said the three admitted buying the drug and were suspended for up to three weeks.

"They made admissions," Mr Calipari said.

He said that one student said he had not used it, while another had admitted to smoking it in his back yard.

Mr Calipari said the school believed it had taken the best course of action.

"It was just important to get the parents in and talk about the future (of the student)," he said.

"And we thought the appropriate thing was to go to our school population."

The deputy head said Xavier provided drug education in both religious studies and health and human development classes.

Mr Calipari said the incident had come as a surprise.

"I have been teaching for 30 years and been deputy head for 10 years, and I was of the opinion that drug selling in schools . . . was dying out," he said.

"I knew him personally and he always says good morning.

"I think at the end of the day, the parents of this boy understood that it was good for them to be aware of it so they can put in preventative measures."

The Herald Sun revealed in October that Geelong Grammar had suspended a dozen students for underage drinking.

A 17-year-old student at Kew's Xavier College was admitted to the Epworth's emergency department yesterday afternoon with multiple leg fractures, after allegations that a schoolyard game became too rough.

In separate incidents yesterday, The Age understands some Xavier students let off fireworks at Balaclava train station, while three others ran through school assembly wearing little else but their school ties as g-strings.

A neighbour of the Kew school also contacted The Age complaining that students were "blind drunk" and disruptive.

"Their behaviour was disgraceful," said the man. "They were blind drunk and some of them could barely stand. My kids have been through muck-up day, but I've never seen anything like that."

The Catholic school released a statement late yesterday saying that all year 12 classes had been cancelled for the remainder of the year "in the best interests of students at all levels" after "a large number of year 12 students exhibited unacceptable behaviour".

Year 12 students were sent home yesterday after a lunch-time game, reportedly a version of rugby known as "jock ball", turned violent.

Classes scheduled for late yesterday, today and tomorrow - which was to be the final day of school for year 12 - were cancelled.

Yesterday's disciplinary action comes on the eve of VCE exams, which begin at the end of the month.

Xavier said that students would be able to contact teachers via email for assistance and meetings during the "swotvac" period.

Channel Nine reported that the student injured yesterday was also the victim of a bullying incident last year, in which the then year 10 student was filmed being pushed upside down into a wheelie bin while students looked on and yelled jeers and abuse. The footage was placed on YouTube.

The school has been the subject of other bullying claims in recent years, including a student allegedly being sent a threatening letter and a bullet in the mail.

Xavier last year dismissed footage showing a student being kicked and verbally abused while lying on the ground with his school jumper over his head as "role playing".

我以前工作经常接触学生，发现男校的学生最可怕，纪律最差，精英中学的男校生傲慢，瞧不起人，没有礼貌，普通中学的男校生调皮得让人头疼，私立的男校学生没有接触过。是不是YEAR7,8的男孩放一起太难管教？

这倒是。国内好像就没有纯男子高中。上海市三女中毕业的都狠强悍。

我觉得父母当然要指导，但是学校教育绝对是对孩子各方面成长占主导作用的。除非是个性特别强大的孩子。普通的孩子受到学校里面的影响是巨大的。等孩子大了，PEER PRESSURE的问题就出来了。上面的例子里，我相信也不过是几颗老鼠屎坏了一锅粥，但是当你的孩子在这锅粥里的时候，就是非常令人头疼的事了。

我个人觉得父母教育over学校教育。所以，特别不赞成那些父母为了子女教育而分居。
