We (9 including two school children) had great bushwalk at Oxley Wild Rivers National Park, the place was listed as World Heritage by United Nation, having the same reputation as Mount Everest, Grand Canyon (USA), Great Wall of China, Great Barrier Reef.   We also had another (Coffs Creek) walk at Coffs Harbour, the coastal city in northern New South Wales.

There will be one bushwalk this Sunday April 19, followong Darwins Footsteps, Wentworth Falles of Blue Mountain, One of the most conteoversial figures in history found solace in this wonderful area. We can be thankful that the grand views on this walk are not less dramatic now than when Darwin explored the area. we have better access with foot tracks and ladders but the essentials are the same.

Meet at north side of Ashfield train station or south side (Railway Pde) of Burwood train station 8:30AM. please SMS 0402 817 164 for intention(confirmation).

or Meet at Glenbrook Visitor Information Centre (of Great Western Highway, Glenbrook Park) at 9:10AM if you drive own car.

BUshwalk at Glenbrook of Blue Mountain this Sunday May 3

此文章由 bushwalking 原创或转贴,不代表本站立场和观点,版权归 oursteps.com.au 和作者 bushwalking 所有!转贴必须注明作者、出处和本声明,并保持内容完整
There will be one bushwalk this Sunday May 3, one of these two opinions: I think I Can or Caught Red Handed.

I think I Can:  A highlight of this walk is chance to get a close up view of the Knapsack Viaduct, completed in 1867. It was the most celebrated structure in the colony for many years. The viaduct carried the first trains crossing the Blue Mountains. The gradient was so steep that the trains needed to take the ascent in short sections. This was achieved by the engine pulling the load up to a switch point. The train as then switched to the rails parallel to the first leg on the next gradient. The engine then pushed the train up to the next level ......

Caught Red Handed: The Red Hands Cave is a site of tremendous important to the Aboriginal Heritage in the Blue Mountain region. This is a pleasant walk to the cave where interpretive signs explain the significance of the site. After walking through tall timered bushland you pass a site where the Aborigines sharpened rocks to make hunting axes. This walk is wonderful after a rainy period. The gurgling creeks and moist air are a treat. There are no big views yeats you will not miss out on experiencing dselightful scenery.

Meet at north side of Ashfield train station 9:00AM or south side (Railway Pde) of Burwood train station 9:05AM;

or Meet at Glenbrook Visitor Information Centre (of Great Western Highway, Glenbrook Park) 9:40AM if you drive own car or catch train.

Please SMS 0402 817 164 for intention(confirmation)

If the weather is good tomorrow, I will join your walk with a friend.  I am going to SMS your phone now.  FYI - a chain store "Colorado" at Hurstville Westfield is currently running a promotion.  It gives $50 discount (RRP $159, i.e. nearly 35% off) on a specialist Trek boot. I bought a pair today.  It is very good quality (good sole with leather top).

after passing the bottom of Golden Stairs, are we going to Mt Solitary instead of Ruinted Castle, or we do both of them.
please see map below of "Mt Solitary Return"

i prefer including Mt Solitary since i just visited Ruined Castle 2 weeks ago.

It will take 11 hours for "Scenic Railway to Mt Solitary via Ruined Castle" (length: 17.2 KM; time: 11 hours; climb: 1780 M).

The another track starting at Golden Staircase to Mt Solitary via Ruined Castle (length: 12 KM; time: 8 hours 45 minutes; climb: 1075 M) only takes less 9 hours.

So the best season for walking "Scenic Railway to Mt Solitary via Ruined Castle" is summer.

While walking along Henry Cliff Walk of Echo Point, Furbers Steps, Federal Pass, to Ruined Castle takes 8.0-9.0 hours (14.4 KM of return Furbers Steps, Federal Pass, to Ruined Castle, plus additional 4 KM of return Echo Point to Furbers Steps).

We can do one of these three options for this Saturday May 9, but have to start walking before 9:00 AM.

Outdoor activities carry their own risks of injury and death. The Organizer has no any control over what the participant does, and cannot accept any liability for any loss or accidents which the participant might suffer.

Bushwalking at Berowra Valley Region Park this Sunday May 10

此文章由 bushwalking 原创或转贴,不代表本站立场和观点,版权归 oursteps.com.au 和作者 bushwalking 所有!转贴必须注明作者、出处和本声明,并保持内容完整
There will be one bushwalking at Berowra Valley Region Park on this Sunday May 10 in addition to Blue Mountain region this Saturday May 9.

From the ridge above Berowra Creek this track goes steeply down into the valley following Calna Creek. The narrow bushtrail section is quite beautiful with plenty of small creek crossings and sandstone overhangs. The grasslands section just before coming to the junction of Calna and Berowra Creeks is also very pretty.

Meeting place: Mount(Mt) Ku-Ring Gai Railway Station
Meeting time: 10:00 AM

Outdoor activities carry their own risks of injury and death. The Organizer has no any control over what the participant does, and cannot accept any liability for any loss or accidents which the participant might suffer.

The rate of this track is between easy and moderate. Everyone can walk.  The hard one is this Saturday's walking at Blue Mountain, which will take 8-9 hours.
