Just get the reply from ICAA, they confirmed that my 3 years PwC auditor experience could be fully counted as prerequisite service time required for registering for CA program.

I think it will benefit many TZ  who has more than 3 years accountant experience in China, especially in Big4, 2nd Tier CPA firm, multi-national companies and large state-own companies.

Following is the inquiry and reply.

Dear Sir/Madam,

In page 21 of admissioins_handbook_march2006.pdf downloaded from http://www.charteredaccountants.com.au, I found that "three years of relevant expereience approved by the institute before the module commencement date of your first technical module" is one of the three service prerequisitions.  

What I want to be clarified is whether the "relevant expereience approved by the institute" is defined as Page 22 Glosssary - "approved service" - "means relevant expereince mentored by a Chartered Accountant and undertaken within an accreditted firm or organisation (unless special approval is granted)."  Or "the relevant experience approved by the institute" could be relevant experience undertaken without an accredittted firm but consequently approved by institute according applicant's request.

Could you help to answer above question?  Because in my circumstance, I have worked as Senior Associate in Audit and Assurance Department, PricewaterhouseCooper China for three years, though PricewaterhouseCoopers China is not an accreditted firm.  If my three years experience working in PwC China could be counted as prerequisite service period, I can apply for the CA program soon.

Sorry about that...not sure what happened there.

What I was saying is that your role is definitely suitable to meet the service requirements for the Chartered Accountants Program.

Basically, in order to meet the service requirements in a non-accredited firm, candidates must be in an accounting role at least 1 level above a basic accounting position (eg: accounts payable/receivable, book keeping) for 3 years, which your position is more than suitable.

This is one of the differences between CA and CPA.

That's correct. And that's why CA program means more than a exam.
