Autopsy results now form part of the mass of forensic evidence facing police investigating the brutal killings of Sydney's Lin family.
Toxicology results from post-mortem examinations carried out on each of the five family members could take months to finalise as the battle continues to positively identify the victims.
Newsagency owner Min Yin, 45, his wife Yun Li Lin, 43, the couple's sons Henry, 12, and Terry, nine, along with Ms Lin's 39-year-old sister Irene Yin were found dead in their beds at an Epping address on Saturday.
Investigators are yet to determine a motive for the brutal killings, which left each victim unrecognisable.
"I'm not at liberty to comment any further on the detail of the post-mortem results because the further analysis of those results is taking place as we speak," NSW Police homicide squad boss Detective Superintendent Geoff Beresford told reporters on Friday.
"Suffice to say that we do know that all of the members of the family suffered severe blunt force trauma."
He said the results were "valuable" but declined to confirm if the cause of death was the same for each victim.
"(The post-mortem examination) has provided us with a particular cause of death, but what you have to understand is that we haven't been able to formally identify any of the family members at this point ... visual identification is not possible," Det Supt Beresford said.
The couple's surviving 15-year-old daughter Brenda and other relatives had spoken with police, including many who had travelled to Sydney from China, he said.
Det Supt Beresford refused to comment on details of the crime scene, including reports that power had been cut to the property in the lead-up to the killings.
He also refused to speculate on a motive for the murders or whether there was more than one killer.
"The forensic examination is extremely detailed. There's a large number of exhibits recovered from the home and that will take some time to analyse in terms of fingerprints, DNA, and alike," Det Supt Beresford said.
Reports of possible blood stains to a fence at a neighbouring house and the seizure of a garbage bin from that property on Thursday have proven fruitless with Det Supt Beresford discounting both items.
Forensic investigators have completed their work at the home and have handed the crime scene to detectives.
Police are focusing their investigations in the Epping area but the appeal for information has stretched to China.
As the Lins' family thanked the community for its support and asked for privacy so they could grieve, Brenda Lin's strength was again praised by police.
"She's an amazing young lady," Det Supt Beresford said.
"She's been very, very strong under the circumstances ... obviously suffering the grief of losing all her family but she's been willing and able to speak to us whenever we've needed to."
