I think it will be very difficult for you to win..... and if it is a real life business, it will be unlikely that you will make good profit, if any.....sorry to speak my mind....
firstly.... your product range is too narrow and you don't have enough product depth...... compare your range with Calendar Club....they have a huge range....how will you compete with them? if you only have a single product, it has to sell very very well to have a good profit, and it usually has to be a very faddish product....is your product one?
Normal retail mark-up for one product is generally 100~150%...and sometimes u get away with 200~300% if your product is really unique and/or you get it at very low cost....even with that, you have to sell a lot with just one product offering....
with the current economic climate, i think will be hard for people to start departing their cash this soon for a product of "christmas/new year" nature (normally, calendar products are such) (you mentioned that you will start retailing in Aug). I think Calendar Club only starts selling in October? there must be a reason for them to sell at that timing, particularly when they r very experienced in calendar selling and are there every year in shoping mall.
Calendar business is also very seasonal......after december, you will have to heavily discount your items....whats your plan for that? And have u taken account the costs of unsold items?
There are also a lot of hidden costs in running a mall cart business.....staff absentism? theft? public liability insurance? festive season levy by shopping centre?
lastly, i don't really see much entrepreneurial ingredient in this business idea. Hoenstly, sounds more like an ordinary retail idea.
Just my 2 cents......dun mean to discourage but just straight opinion.....good luck.... |
