赞同家庭价值观差异之说。其实也是学校价值观的差异。刚读了一篇Aloy 的rector 的一篇文章,引用 -
“HSC is not the sole measure of who we are. Anyone who thinks that here is at the wrong school. Here we educate the whole person – head, heart and hands. We are interested in forming character as much as the mind. Those young men who are regularly engaged in co-curricular activities which draw them here for debating until evening comes, or to the backstreets for Night Patrol, or which motivate them to arrive here early mornings for sport, or orchestra. Those who commit themselves to drama and music rehearsals or cadet camps or tours or immersions during what others call holidays know what I am speaking about.
It is also why during class time, they will regularly find themselves pondering the Big Questions of life that are not on any narrow government syllabus. Questions like what is it to find and lead a really good life? How do I make wise choices about what is really important in life? If there is a God, how can I know God? What sense do I make of suffering or evil in the world – and how do I respond to it? Where is there meaning and happiness?
Sure, we take the life of the mind seriously here. But the mind is for more than wrestling with exam questions. It is for wrestling with the tough issues and complex challenges of the world and coming to an ethical stance or practical outcome which will be life-giving for others. That is the scope of our ‘Aloysius syllabus’. Generosity, gratitude, service, justice, conscience and compassion are not measured by any HSC assessment tasks in New South Wales. But we maintain that they are absolutely critical for full human development.” |
