Another things people need to understand about their kayak, is the kayak's bouyancy.
All kayak has primary and secondary bouyancy.
For Hobie PA and Outback, you have majority primary bouyancy, where is stable mostly in bays and estuary. It gives plenty of room for the kayaker and dry ride. However, in the event of rough weather, PA are prone to waves, wind and swell.
Hobie Revolution 13/16 and older Hobie Advanture is long and slim, which mean you always get wet rides. However, you may feel it is less stable comparing to PA/Outback, it actually has strong secondary bouyancy. This mean, in a rough weather, the kayak can handle those rough waves better than PA/Outback, by slicing through the wave. With the secondary bouyancy, it is the better choice than PA/Outback when comes to off-shore fishing (or off surf coast).
What is secondary bouyancy ? It is the capability when a kayak is tipped to certain angle, will the kayak's design help it right itself to right up, instead of tipping over with the wave. |
