我和我女儿也都喜欢蓝校服，不喜欢绿的，可是我们可以考虑的几所学校大部分是绿校服，你说我们怎么那么本末倒置呢？

网上报名完成了，很简单哈。

吃晚饭的时候稍稍讨论了报名的问题，意见基本一致。

晚餐之后，打开网页，让儿子过来。他先检查前面的基本内容是否填写正确，然后自己动手选了4个学校，果然第四志愿他毫不犹豫地挑了JR。最后是完成之后的种种确认，点击提交。

收到email， 无误。儿子还让转发了一份到他的邮箱。

BTW， 报名里有一个小项目，估计就是TX们说过有可能会考虑同分优先的问题， 如下：

末。还是要把最想去的放前面。

如果想去JR，就得放第一志愿。放后面只是小孩子调皮，用来充数而已，没有任何意义。就算你考得再好也轮不到第四志愿的JR录取，第一志愿先录取了。

我的理解是按照学校的顺序，比如说你考了270分，而第一志愿是sbh，尽管分数够上jr,你也不会有机会了，因为会给sbh的offer,其它就是inapplicable .

那你现在去补习学校，说报最后两周的模拟考试，估计没问题。

或明年开学后补习学校还会有6周的模拟考试，报那个也行。

刚刚回头问正在打游戏的孩子要不要去参加模拟考，人家马上大声反对“No。。。”。 一同打游戏的他爹问“如果没考好，咋办？”

看来我得想别的招了。。。

详情里面的时间安排很有参考意义。

Test Registration

How to Register---Students who have their Pre-Uni New College student number can register by paying the registration fee at any of Pre-Uni New College branches. All other students must complete the registration form and submit it to one of Pre-Uni New College branches with the registration fee.

Registration deadline---All intending students must register by 5pm, Saturday, 18th January 2014.

Registration fee---The ASAT registration fee is $65 (GST inclusive).

Refund Policy---ASAT does not offer refunds for cancelled tests or related fees.

Test Centre Capacity---Late registration will only be accepted if there is a seat available. Please note that test center capacity is limited. If the test center has filled to capacity, we will not accept your application

LZ为啥要找难的呢？ 是决心把儿子的自信压到最低末？还是感觉题难分低能让儿子在最后的几个月发奋图强？

俺听说JAMES ANN的题目有时会很偏， 本人没去过， 只是听说而已哈。

“置之于死地而后生”--- 原本有这个想法，但，看儿子的意思是不想去。。。 再说吧。

儿子考OC的时候在他家网站上做了几套免费的题目，对后来的考试很有帮助。好久没看他家网站了，今天打开，注册已经过期，但他家发送的新信息依然可见，不错。

All the indications from the last 2 years is that Eng is being set at extremely hard level. Even the best reader here with HD in UNSW ICAS Eng could only scored 60% in OC Eng. In SS Eng, students who scored over 90% for grade 7 Eng here only scored 68.8%. What this means is it is extremely difficult to score above 70% for Eng in OC and SS test. Similarly, about 30% of the SS math test have problem solving questions suitable for normal year 9-10 students. This stops most students from scoring over 70% for math. In SS test, students only need to score 70% across 3 components to get about 245/300. However it is very hard to score 70% as most students will have 1 weak area where the score could fall under 50%. This means at least one of the other areas must break the 70% ceiling!

To deal with the above problems and get over 70% for Eng or Math, students should do the following

For Eng - read a lot! Use the Reading room, Video resources, Stories time, do the Wordlist, do Vocab test, visit library to borrow books, watch a lot of movies and TV shows from the recommended list and work on the English test series all the way to grade 8 level.
英语- 阅读，多多益善，一直到8年级（ ）的程度。

For Math - try to complete grade 6 math series by end of Dec of the year before SS test and try to score at least 75% for math challenge grade 6-7 and math problem solving grade 6-7. Study the High Speed Problem Solving guide and use the Math section of Video resources to boost performance further.
数学-尽量在12月之前学完6年级的数学。6-7年级数学题答对率75%以上。加速解题。

GA is an area where past students on this system did very well. Just by using Reading room, Video resources, BBC science and complete all the GA test series students are ready to cope with the GA trial tests which are set to be harder than real SS GA test. The work for Eng and math above will boost GA performance. And often students here scored higher in real SS GA than in the GA trials.

Parents, it looks like the OC and SS process is flawed with many interventions by the SSU to try to distribute OC and SS places "more fairly" across the population. The idea is to push some students in high performing schools down and lift the top 1-2 students from poor performing schools up. This is why being the top candidate in a low-ranked school is better than being the bottom candidate in a top-ranked school. Another fix has been identified in this year OC results. When a school is extremely good and also hosts an OC class, they knock the whole school down! In one case, the school is too good so it has the potential to take all 15 OC places (small OC class) for itself! It looks like all students from the school suffered a drop of about 11 marks and just over 1/2 of the OC class was filled by students from this school! As the SW Sydney has only a few small OC classes of 15 students, taking just over 1/2 is considered a "crime" (: This makes sense because the surrounding schools never really have a chance to send any student into its OC class. This must be one extra intervention on top of the normal down-scaling based on the average of test marks and the school ranking penalty.

It is well known that some schools now are so strong that it can send over 60 students into selective schools. So potentially it can take nearly 1/2 of a top selective school if all students put the school as first preference! There is no evidence that the SSU has tried to intervene. However it is well known that Sydney Boys/Girls and North Sydney Boys/Girls are favourite targets for certain groups of students and schools, teh SSU might take action in a similar fasion like what is happening to OC. Therefore it is now so clear that if parents choose to send their kids into a very high ranked OC class (based on cut off marks), it is important that the kids must be competitive and reliable to be able to avoid sitting at the bottom of the OC class. The decision to accept OC offer or not is becoming a lot harder.

It looks like they give OC candidates Eng at same level with SS test Eng. Top OC candidates only score about 60% and later when they become SS candidates, they would score about 70%. The reading level is now similar to what year 8-9 students would have to read carefully to understand well.

It seems that the SSU has decided that English will be the impossible area for tutoring colleges to handle beside giving out word list and wasting students' time with easy reading texts. It makes perfect sense for parents to make sure kids will watch ABC TV programs such as news, Australian Story, Landline ... along with reading newspapers to improve non-fiction comprehension and vocabulary. Kids also need to read novels 3-4 years ahead of their age!
