Presbyterian Ladies' College student Nupoor Toma has called to say she's happy with her ATAR of 99.85 - and her parents are even more thrilled. "I think they're happier than I am," she says. She has gathered at the school with a group of friends. "Everyone is pretty happy."

“I got my parents to look at it first because I got really freaked out,” says Nupoor Tomar, a student at PLC. “I think I was a bit shocked at first because you always picture the moment for at least two years while you’re are doing VCE. In the end I was really happy because you always imagine the worst situation.” Her score?… 99.85. Congrats also to her classmate Scarlett Yeo, who scored 99.90.

10:47am: Presbyterian Ladies’ College has 12 per cent of VCE students with ATARs of 99-plus while 46 per cent received 95 or higher. Of the 133 students, 92 per cent achieved a result of 80 or higher. Three students achieved an ATAR of 99.9

10:50am: We followed the progress of six students in their final months of high school. Now the first member of “The Year 12 Club” has reported her results, Katie Blunt of Lauriston Girls' School. She got her ATAR of 99.8 by text message, shortly before dipping into the pool this morning at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra, where the elite student-athlete is taking part in a water polo training camp. “I'm still a little bit in shock. Good shock. All year my goal has been to do as well as I can, and I can’t say that I had an expectation to get anywhere close to that. I am really happy that my hard work has paid off. Whatever the number, it just marks the end of the journey – so there’s some finality to the year."

11:00am: Another super-achiever. Reporter Konrad Marshall tells us he’s on his ways to interview Anuj Krishna, a 16-year-old who topped the charts at the Melbourne High School and is one of two students there with a perfect score of 99.95. "He's an interesting young man," principal Jeremy Ludowyke tells us. "He's also a prominent musician and band master. He leads the military band - so he walks in front of the band with the staff."

11:25am: St Catherine's School is home to a perfect scorer, Saskia Holloway. This year 6.4 per cent of the school's students scored 99 or higher while 41 per cent achieved 95 and above.

11:32am: We spoke to Holly Kernahan from Vermont Secondary College who is ecstatic to receive an ATAR score of 77.2. Holly was set on going to Melbourne University to study a Bachelor of Arts. Throughout the year she was getting exceptional results and felt confident. But when it was time for exams, she felt the heat and started to doubt herself, leaving most of her exams early. As she was granted special consideration, the score she needs for Arts at Melbourne drops to a 78, which gives her hope she could be accepted on a second-round offer.

11:36am: Mount Scopus Memorial College says it had an outstanding year with more than half of its year 12 students attaining an ATAR of 90 or above. Two students, Ilana Cherny and Joshua Zail, achieved maximum ATARS of 99.95 while almost 19.3 per cent received 98 or higher. Oof.

11:46am: News in from Ivanhoe Grammar School: 26 per cent achieved an ATAR of 90 or above. The Dux of the Plenty Campus for 2013 is Kangli Hu, who attained an ATAR of 99.70. “I’m pretty happy about my result,” Kangli tells us (unsurprisingly) “and my first preference is to study Commerce at Melbourne University.”

12:00pm: Five students at Melbourne Grammar School have received the highest possible ATAR. The median for the school is 90.75 with 25 students attaining 99 or higher from a total of 199 students.

12:21pm: At Bialik College 12 per cent of students scored 99 and above. The median ATAR was 92. In total 55.8 per cent achieved 90 or higher.

12:18pm: Frankston High School is reporting its best VCE results. Two students received ATARS of 99 or above while 14 per cent of year 12 students received ATARs higher than 90. School principal John Albiston says he is ecstatic. "This recognises the dedication and talents of both our teachers and students who work tirelessly as a team to achieve their best."

12:36pm: Eight students scored 90 or above at Maribyrnong College.

12:35pm: This just in, 22.2 per cent of students at Trafalgar High School scored 90 or above.

12:26pm: Bryce Robinson is the top student at CRC Melton with an ATAR of 99.70. Bryce received the perfect score of 50 in chemistry, 49 in biology, 47 in literature,  46 in further maths, 42 in maths methods and 41 in legal studies. Overall, 6 students got scores above 90.

12:45pm: The University of Melbourne reports that 68 high-achieving students have accepted National Scholarships at the university. To be eligible for the scholarships students need an ATAR of at least 99.9. The scholarships provide a HECS exempt place with an annual allowance of $5000.

Melbourne Grammar 2013 VCE Result

Continuing a strong tradition of high academic success at Melbourne Grammar School, five of its Year 12 VCE students have achieved the highest possible ATAR of 99.95.

Melbourne Grammar School’s results put its students in the top tier of academic success across Australia, with more than 50% of Melbourne Grammar School students in the top 10% of the state/nation. All 199 students in the Melbourne Grammar School Class of 2013 successfully completed their VCE.

The Year 12 class of 2013 has achieved very good results. In all respects, the results that were released today demonstrate the willingness of the cohort to reach its potential through hard work, co-operative learning – with the boys’ teachers and one another – and encouragement from their families. They are to be congratulated on their individual and group performance in this significant measure of thirteen years of education.

Highlights for the 2013 academic year include:

• 26.89% of Study Scores were greater than 40. This means that almost 27% of all our boys’ results were in the top 8% of Victoria;

• A median ATAR of 88.00;

• 18% of boys achieved an ATAR above 97;

• 43% of boys achieved an ATAR above 90; and,

• 67% of boys achieved an ATAR above 80
