我家老大看完了她的一套十本的priness diaries系列，最近又在看她的Air head，一套三本

Priness Diaries就不用介绍了吧，那部电影相信很多人都看过。当然书和电影情节有些不大一样，故事更加合情理些，不象电影里那么夸张。甚至在第三本还是第四本书里还提到了这部电影，书里面的角色还对那部电影有些小小的意见，很是有意思。

Air head是讲一名普通的女中学生，属于那种很聪明，但在学校很不起眼的那种类型。在一次意外后，她的大脑被移植到一名很有名的名星的身上。手术醒来后，她的生活发生了翻天覆地的变化。

这应该属于中学生看的书吧。12+

Meg Cabot的书大概只有女孩才会看的吧，她的书文字很浅白，对于少男少女的各种烦恼描写细腻，情节安排夸张而喜剧，女孩都喜欢，Anne Hathaway的同名电影我女儿翻来覆去看了无数遍，看见吸引人之处。
但是滑稽的是作者本人没有孩子，她有如何能了解年轻人的心事？
她自己说：“任何年代的年青人，烦恼都一样。 我们当时的烦恼，其实和他们今天的差不多：同学之间常常说是道非，又要面对学业考试的压力，注意自己的外貌，也对爱情充满好奇。就算科技进步，大家的烦恼还是会存在。只是以前我们与朋友倾诉時用的是文字书信和电话，現在则用电脑和手机而已。」

她的书是蛮好看的, 我只看过她的几本单独的书, Jinx 这些, 没有看过她的系列, 觉得文字简单风趣可读性强(也十分适合以前不看英文书, 有意愿开始的妈妈们, 爸爸们应该不会感兴趣, 我家的男生们对她毫无兴趣).

看书如享受美食, The Book Thief 这些可做正餐, Meg Cabot的书好比甜点, 换着口味更能享受到美食的丰富.

李安拍的电影版Life of Pi已经开始上映了, 等着看, 貌似目前EVENT Cinemas 还只在QLD放映.

很有趣的一本书, 这本书我猜不是所有中学生都会喜欢的, 但是喜欢的人会很喜欢, 可以反复看的一本书.不是快餐类书,需要耐心看, 文字真很好.

很久没来更新了，有空来说几本女儿最近看过的书。

【LORD OF THE FLIES】（蝇王）
作者是英国人William Golding，诺贝尔奖得主。

这本书是个很有深度的寓言故事，其实是写给成人看的，说的是未来的一场战争毁掉了人类的和平，有一群孩子乘着飞机路过海上时发生了坠机事件，并困在了一个荒岛上。最初孩子们齐心协力，共同应付随之而来的种种困难。但由于对“野兽”的恐惧使孩子们渐渐分裂成两派，代表理智与文明的一派与代表野性与原始的一派，最终爆发了两派中的矛盾。。。

女儿看完后说虽然很多地方还是有点混乱，但是整个故事好看，语言很好她给9/10，她把故事大致给讲给我听了一下。我觉得洋人比较直接，写本书来宣扬“人之初性本恶”的道理，而在中国说“人之初性本善”更受欢迎，所以这本书在中国的话估计卖不出去，呵呵。

推荐年龄13+，不同年龄看都行，相信初中生和高中生读出来的感觉很不同。

蝇王来源于希伯来语，原词为“Beelzebub”。在英语中，“蝇王”则是粪便与丑恶之王（或污物之王），在《圣经》中，“Beel”被当作“万恶之首”。在小说里，蝇王不只是象征着丑恶的悬挂着的猪头，更代表的是人性最深层的黑暗面，是无法避免的劣根性。

那是发生在遥远的未来时代。在一次核战争中，一架飞机带着一群男孩从英国本土飞向南方疏散。飞机因遭到袭击而迫降在太平洋的一座荒无人烟的珊瑚小岛上。这群孩子暂时脱离了文明世界。飞机没有了，大人没有了，人类千辛万苦建立起来的文明世界危在旦夕。海岛上的环境很恶劣，对侥幸生存下来的孩子们构成威胁，然而最大的危险竟然来自于这些原本天真烂漫的孩子自身。

在没有大人的情况下，孩子们开始了岛上的生活。12岁的Ralph是英国海军司令的儿子，他优雅举止，乐观自信，为脱离大人的管制获得自由而欣喜若狂。他吹响了一只螺号，将分散在岛上各处的孩子组织起来，在全体会议上当选为领袖。孩子们在Ralph的领导下搭帐篷，采野果，点起篝火等待求援。起初孩子们在与世隔绝的小岛上和睦相处，倒也其乐融融，但随着“野兽”的出现，小岛上的安宁与和谐被打破。

孩子们很快分成了两派：一派以Ralph为代表，坚持在岛上建立文明的社会秩序，比如要求大小便在指定地点、遇事开会并举手发言、海滩上始终燃起一堆火作为求援信号等。另一派则是以唱诗班领队Jack为代表，他们对这些文明的、民主的做法嗤之以鼻，而崇尚人性中的原恶，以及破坏、毁灭的本能。

Jack自命不凡，对Ralph当选领袖十分不满。他被分配去打猎，便把猎来的野猪头插在一个尖木桩上，又逼着其他孩子仿效野蛮人将脸部涂抹成五颜六色，围着落满苍蝇的野猪头狂欢，却任凭救命的篝火熄灭，从而失去了得救的宝贵机会。可怕的是，越到后来，后一种倾向就越占据上风，更多的孩子加入了这群人当中。在远离了人类文明及其规范制约之后，人性恶得到了空前的释放，使他们渐渐步入“罪恶”的深渊。

为了夺取领袖地位，Jack带人袭击了Ralph的住所，在激烈争斗中，Ralph最要好的朋友猪Piggy,在混战中坠崖死去，Simon被乱棍打死，Ralph自己也陷入重围。男孩们自相残杀，整个小岛陷于恐怖之中。这群男孩最终彻底毁灭了这里的一切，整个海岛在熊熊大火中燃烧起来。紧急关头，一艘英国军舰发现了岛上的大火，及时赶来，Ralph幸免于难。

Ralph最终实现了他被拯救的愿望，但他却感到异常悲痛，为同伴们人性的沦丧而不停地哭泣。。。

One would think that this book is written for children. But then again one would also think that this book was written by the same author as the lord of the rings (J.R.R.R Tolkien). Trust me it's not. It's book that uses symbolism through a child's perspective throughout the book. It may not make sense but say a child was afraid. Normally we woudl associate this with darkness, black etc. Not this book. This book associated that through the losing of trust, friends and the breaking up of a society. It's all very deep, and most people won't understand it until they've read the notes at the end. Unless you're a symboligist or a philosopher than you migth have a chance. Yet despite it's confusing and blurry edges around the storyline, i still find the book written beautifully. The words flow. That's how i would describe it.

前几天一起看了电影【The Perks of Being a Wallflower】，非常不错的电影，IMDB得分非常高，是近年来我看过的最好看有味道的青少年题材的电影。
这部书是很有争议性的作品，买了一本，女儿正在看但是反映一般般，她说书太严肃了，没有电影好看，她觉得可能要她到高中来读这本书会更有感觉。



电影里很多片段和情节，都很值得回味，对白非常出色，我觉得每个成年人和青少年都能在其中找到代入感，导演就是作家本人，我相信是一部非常精彩的小说。

What would you do if you were treated like an idiot. Not for fun, but for real. What if you're friends were laughing at you, not with you. I can guarantee you, at least one person reading this would've been called an 'idiot', 'stupid' or perhaps even 'retarded'. Whether it be serious or joking, we've all had that particular experience. Charlie Gordon is actaully retarded. Not the retarded you would joke around with your friends at lunch, but mentall disabled. Ever since birth, his mother has been unhappy with what she produced. Beating him just to try and make him like the other children. She simply refused to believe he wasn't well. Charlie knows this, and he can't help it, but he tries the best he can.

'Im so exited I can hardley rite is down' Charlie says when he hears about some scientists who wants to use him for an operation to make him smart. He can't read nor write very well, and the quote i used before from Charlie was what he had wrote down in his 'progress reports'. From that you can see, that it's not because im a bad speller, but because he doesn't know how to write. These reports keep track of charlie's intelligence. Charlie keeps it almost like a diary. Of course, this will be used for scientific purposes for the future, but to Charlie they're just his feelings from time to time.

Now this experiment of course wouldn't just be performed on a human being without medical test first on animals. In this case, the experiment was originally performed on a mouse, named Algernon. The mosue was smart all right. He solved a maze or a puzzle everyday just to get to his food. Then Charlie became the same. The genius. The scientific wonder of the world. Yet then all of a sudden. He became too smart for anyone i guess. Yet, there were things he still understand. Things that weren't written in books or would appear on the Google search. He found friendship and love hard to understand, because he didn't know about it. He was scared of them.

Then again, even though you're brain might've changed. Your heart hasn't. Charlie and simply Charlie. You can change how a person looks, walks, or even talks, but you can't change their heart. So Charlie will always come back. One way or another. Not the genius CHarlie. But the simple Charlie.

女儿说这是一部很有趣的书，楼上是她写的bookreview，不过她不喜欢结局，因为很残酷，主人公又变回了白痴，还暗示了他会像那只小白鼠一样死去。。。

弱智查理始终在查理身旁不曾离开，只是查理对弱智查理的存在感到羞愧害怕，害怕自己再度成为那个笨蛋又没用的查理，尤其在跟异性互动的时候。母亲罗丝最初的过度保护，到诺玛出生后的鄙夷以对，尖锐口语与严刑酷罚，歇斯底里地警告他不准不守规矩，不准失态，不准亲近异性，不准对异性产生任何暇想。不懂得母亲态度的转变，直觉是自己作错事的查理，不安，内疚，恐惧的童年烙印深殖脑海，也是他对异性表达情感的最大障碍。这让查理沮丧，但这也给了他动机，去主动回忆被自己遗忘的童年片段，寻找被自己遗忘的家人。发表会场上，不受基本尊重的窘态，加上阿尔吉侬的不稳定行为暴露了技术瑕疵，查理知道自己很有可能步入阿尔吉侬的后尘，他惊恐，他愤怒，他带着阿尔吉侬逃离了现场，逃离了教授们框架的迷宫，搬出了大学，到外地租房居住。

查理和父亲见面。父亲马特不认得眼前这位高傲的天才查理，马特的记忆裡只有那位腼腆笑意的善良查理，查理大受打击，质疑自己的存在性。餐厅裡的一幕，唤回了他的感受，他的自我，决定替弱智团体谋福利，回去大学进行研究。回到实验室的阿尔吉侬行为退化日益严重，他知道实验并没有成功，自己以后又会何处去何从？查理动身去拜访伯特教授所讲的华伦寄养之家，他的馀生之地。和平，温暖，却没有希望，没有未来，没有改变的可能性。

阿尔吉侬死了。查理亲手埋葬了阿尔吉侬，在牠坟前献花，泪流满面。是因为失去有同性质的朋友，还是为自己未来的可预见性在悲泣？自此查理的智能开始变差，记忆力衰退，协调机能走下坡，报告裡开始出现错字，心智急遽退化，他无力改变，只求别让他忘了读书写字。查理恢复成弱智查理，甚至更糟。查理偶然回忆起手术，回忆起曾发生的片段，回忆起家人，回忆起自己，回忆起自己的心愿，他选择华伦寄养之家度过馀生，还不忘提醒，希望别人替他献上一束花，为阿尔吉侬。

查理受到科技之赐提高智商，却让他对成人世界感到灰暗失望，又因为科技之赐使他恢复智商再度成了无知愚笨的蠢蛋，然而天真善良的性格已荡然无存。无知，才是是幸福的？有些事还是不要知道得太多，比较好？

或许是，或许不是。

「我不后悔动了手术。」自负查理的回覆？抑或天真查理的回答？我想两者都有。

老实讲，个人并不怎麽欣赏天才查理，就算变聪明是他当时最大的愿望。知识变多了，凭着脑袋变灵光了，人也变傲了，人际相处一整个糟糕。怪不得他，自小没人会教导他，也没人愿意教导他。打骂、恫吓、嘻笑，是弱智查理用身体换来的灰色记忆，畏惧、顺从、陪笑是他当下可以做也唯一能做的反射动作。当时的他不了解，也不明白，天真的想法裡摸索不住别人迂迴的思绪，言语行间裡的意含。他，只是个「孩子」。讽刺的是，在查理变「正常」的同时，他也无意间同朋友一样，作出了同样的行为，同样的举动，严重刺伤的不仅仅是心而已。

始终不能理解，天才查理为什麽会如此抗拒弱智查理？讨厌另一个自我的无用表现？害怕另一个自我的无知行为？担心知识智慧会因另一个自我的出现而消失？或是恐惧自己其实还是那一个自我？不觉得天才查理到最后有完全接纳弱智查理，弱智查理只是忠实反应他的感受，这就是让他排拒的地方？也许，可能。

真实无掩的自我，总是让人畏怯。

情况开始变坏之前，查理见了母亲罗丝跟妹妹诺玛，与他们相认，告解现在，鬆绑过去，为自己，为他们。查理从来没有恨过家人。他只想再度和家人相见，让他们见到「正常」的查理，让他们安心，就够了。虽然他当时没有能跟父亲马特相认的勇气，至少他打开了心房，即便只有那短暂的时光，营造出「正常」的假象。至少查理有付诸行动，替他，替自己，办到了。这是弱智查理想做却一直做不到的事。

虽然查理终究恢复了那位查理。虽然他忘了学来的知识，忘了自己曾作过什麽事情，忘了怎麽读书，忘了怎麽认字。至少，他还记得自己想要变聪明的心意；至少，他还记得自己以前的朋友，就算他们不把他当「一般的朋友」看待……

至少，查理还记得阿尔吉侬，还记得在牠的坟前，为牠送上一束花。

Paper Towns by John Green

We're all just little paper men and women standing around in a paper town. Or so Margo says to Quentin one night whilst staring down at their town. If you've ever read John Green books you'll know they're the best. They're deep, imaginative, thoughtful and can just pull you in. When you're reading its just always saying to yourself "One more chapter, then I'll stop" in a continuous loop that never ends. This is a book that I really dont want to spoil for anyone really, and because of that this review will be much shorter and briefer than most of my other ones. It kind of gives you a lost for words to describe it. Or it could just be me and my mind blanks, but really I dont have much to say about this book just because it is extremely well written. Im sure most of you have read books that've given you the lost for words. They're the books you want to read again just to make sure you understand. This book hasn't reached that standard yet for though. I mean it truly is VERY good, but I probably won't pick it up again to read.

Some of the books I've read such as Igraine, (if anyone's ever read that) which was actaully a book from my childhood is a book I still want to pick up and immerse myself into the chapters again and again. THey're the books worth reading and wasting your time for. I think that this book has the potential to be someone's book to pick again later in life.

Divergent & Insurgent

Similiar to the Hunger Games, or at least somewhere within its category, both Divergent and Insurgent belong to a trilogy of which the third book hasn't been released yet. These are great books, and I can only guess that they'll be just as much of a hit as the Hunger Games were. Of course there is the cliched yet still seemingly romantic boy meets girl and girl meets boy, and yes, most books that teenagers, adults even will include some form of romance. Society no longer takes in the books with no romance whatsoever in them, and the same goes for the majority of films too. It is unbelievably cliched, yet we still indulge in the readings of heated relationships almost as if we had met them for the first time. We just never seem to get tired of it. Bit strange really.

Honestly, I think that the trilogy shouldn't have been a trilogy at all. In fact, the first book, Divergent would've stood well on its own if the author had chosen to end it right there and then. The second book isn't much, it's more government, and tiring to read that kind of thing. Unless you're really interested in that area, then by all means continue reading. I don't want to spoil the book, but what I do want to say is that, this is a book that will keep you reading for who knows how long. There's action, romance, and yes a bit of thinking to do, but whats a good book without having to think about it? Some of the best books you'll ever get to read are ones that people have to read over and over just to get the idea of the plot and the details. But that saying I'm sure doesn't apply to everyone, some just want to just sit, others want to solve, some may like a bit of both. The books involve themes of feeling or acting stereotypical to others, just because the government has divided the people into different sections each with their own ability. You can even see how that applies to our everyday life even. So some themes are quite deep for one to explore, but I'm sure many of you couldn't really care less. I mean I don't really think about anything until after I've read the book. So read these books if you can, if you can't;trust me, no one's judging you.

我们家鼓励女儿看Classic的方式就是看电影看电视剧先，然后引导她看原著，从小学三年级到现在一直挺奏效的。。。
原因不外乎她和我一样是个电影迷，我们每年看的电影数量她有50部，我会看100个以上。
所以，那些大部头的名著虽然有曲折复杂的情节和众多的人物，因为有电影电视剧的基础，她在看原著的时候就能够follow。

我一直对她说，看了一本故事后写点啥，不需要正儿八经的书评和读后感，任何感想都行，喜欢或者不喜欢，长篇大论或者几句话都行，留点啥，将来说不定再有机会再看一遍的时候，当时的只字片语都可能成为珍贵的回忆。

她前一阵子看了【傲慢与偏见】就是一本worth revisting at any age的书，我们之前一起看过BBC的电视剧版本（1995年，Colin Firth演Darcy，Jennifer Ehle演Elizabeth）和2005年好莱坞的电影版本（Keira Knightley演Eliz），她都非常喜欢。

通常这书如果孩子能力够有兴趣，14岁就能看了。

下面是她写了一段算是应付我的，呵呵。



PRIDE AND PREJUDICE

Do you possess the characteristics of pride? Or do you possess the characteristics of prejudice? Ever judged a book by its cover? I could write a book about astronomy, and I know that not many would care, UNLESS I decorate it with sparkles and glitter, giving the book a title called "STARS". Now 6 year old girls would most likely come running to a bookshop to purchase my book, only to find that it's full of words longer than 2 syllables that they can't even pronounce. Yes, it is extremely hard for one to not judge someone or something by its cover, but if you can, try not to. It's like looking at a sycamore tree. Do you know how high it'll grow? Researchers might tell you the average height of a typical sycamore tree, but can they tell you the exact height of the one you're looking at and how high it'll grow? Therefore if you cut it down, then you'll never know. You won't know how the sycamore was planted, who planted it or even why it was planted. And just like you might've walked away or cut down the sycamore tree, Elizabeth Bennet thoughts on Mr Darcy were completely false.
She thought os him as a vile, cruel and haughty young man, not matter how much money he earned throughout his lifetime or the estates that he owned in the countrysides. She cared not for his selfish and arrogant ways and had thought to herself; how could anyone ever love someone like him?

In ways, Elizabeth Bennet was right, on how proud he was, a trait that distinguished him as the one of the most disliked men of the party. Yet it was a trait that was soon overcome by Mr Darcy due to his love for Elizabeth. He was way too proud at first. Unwilling to attend the parties that involved the Bennet household, and looked down upon others as if he were from a better class. He had cared not for Elizabeth Bennet nor her family's feelings and treaded upon them like a shoe would come upon an ant. In fact, he had even said that Elizabeth Bennet was not 'handsome enough to tempt him' and refused to dance with her.

Yet despite their differences, romance came slowly. There were hiccups and wrinkles in the pages along the way, and I admit it was nice to finish the book finally. So, its a great book, but you might want to watch the movie first. (Otherwise it can be hard to follow the plot)

【Jepp, Who Defied the Stars】，我女儿说挺好看的，10分里打9分的书。

主角Jepp是几百年前欧洲的宫廷侏儒，故事说了他坎坷的命运，他不是一个认命的人，一直在追求他不被允许拥有的东西，比如学习、爱情、生存等等。。。好像是历史真有其人其事的，这算历史小说，也是励志读物。
女儿说这个作者的文字很好。

这部书是2012年入选New York Times Notable Children’s Books of 2012和The Wall Street Journal Best Children’s Books of 2012，是畅销书来着。
