Wife denies lying at Xie murder trial

Wife of accused NSW murderer Robert Xie has denied lying while giving evidence during a retrial.
The wife of a man accused of murdering five of her relatives says English limitations led to differences between what she told police and jurors about finding the first body.
Kathy Lin denied a crown suggestion she was lying during her evidence on Thursday at the NSW Supreme Court retrial of her husband Robert Xie.
Xie, 52, denies murdering the family members, who all suffered horrific head injuries inflicted with a hammer-like object in their Sydney home in the early hours of July 18, 2009.
The victims were his newsagent brother-in-law Min 'Norman' Lin, 45, Mr Lin's wife Yun Li 'Lily' Lin, 43, her sister Yun Bin 'Irene', 39, and the Lins' two boys, 12-year-old Henry and nine-year-old Terry.
The crown alleges Xie believed he wasn't given the respect and admiration he deserved in the extended family.
Ms Lin told the jury she and Xie went to her brother's home on July 18 after he failed to turn up to his newsagency.
She repeatedly broke down as she spoke of entering the unlocked house and not finding anyone downstairs.
'I kept walking and kept calling but no answer,' she said.
Her husband followed her upstairs and she saw the door to the main bedroom was open although it was dark as if the curtains were drawn.
When they were around the end of the bed and her husband was standing beside her, he told her not to look and hugged her tightly, but 'I already saw everything'.
'My sister-in-law's face had changed, there was blood on her face.'
Prosecutor Tanya Smith referred Ms Lin to her police interview, days after the killings, when she twice said her husband was behind her and she did not see anything in the room.
She further said her husband told her not to look and hugged her, and she then turned and saw her sister-in-law and the blood marks.
But Ms Lin again told the jury when her husband hugged her she had already seen what was on the bed.
When Ms Smith suggested she was not being truthful, she referred to her English limitations at the time of the police interview.
Ms Smith alleged that Xie told his wife not to look because he knew about the bodies because he was the killer.
The trial is continuing.
