Had a great walk at Brisband Water National Park Sept 20

Due to Hazard Reduction burning operations at Ku-ring-gai National Park this weekend, we re-scheduled next Sunday's track "Patonga to Girrakool" section 3.2 of Great North Walk. Four of us (Viola, Deric, Katie, and I) came to walk today at Brisband Water Natioanl Park. We finished this track of 24.2 KM for 8.30 hours.

Amazingly we saw a local oz "Ron" at the age of 66 who started early morning 5:30 AM,  ran this 24 KM track for 4 hours 14 minutes in the moring and back the same track for other 5 hours, i.e. finish return tracks of 48 KM for only about 10 hours.

Have a wonderful 3 days/2 nights "Great North Walk"

Almost had a "prefect" great 3 days/2 nights "Great North Walk" from Somersby Trackhead to Watagen Creek (Congewai Valley).

Four of us (Tammy, Deric, Katie and I) walked for day one and two, and eight (four plus hohoho family and Wendy) walked on day three.

Day one: We walked 27 KM (ascent 800 M and descent 1000 M) for 7.5 hours including half hour for lunch and coffee break and another half hour for cleaning leechs due to heavy rain, stayed at cottage having mooncakes for chinese middle fall festive.

Day two:  walked 19.3 KM (ascent 500 M and descent 400 M) for ca 4 hours including two minutes break for drinking beer, had BBQ at Hunter Valley.

Day three, we only walked 12.3 KM (ascent 550 M and descent 710 M) for 3.3 hours and missed 15.5 KM track to Congewai Valley due to unexpected event.

We are certainly fit enoguh for Great Ocean Walk of 104 KM of Vicotora within (4-5 days) and Milford Track of NZ easily in this December.

Bushwalking at Magdale Creek of Springwood (Blue Mountains) this Sunday Oct 18

The walk down Magdala Creek to Martin's Lookout, returning via Glenbrook Creek is a pleasant day walk along a couple of nice creeks, with some great views across the Lower Blue Mountains from the lookout. It is probably best done in summer as there are numerous opportunities for swimming, and much of the walk is under the canopy.

Meeting time and places

9:00 AM,  Car Park at Picnic Point (of Valley Road of Springwood);

or 13:30 PM,  Car Park at Tench Reserve (of Tench Avenue and Jamison Road), Jamisontown (Penrith) for lunch.

Bushwalking at Rodriguez Pass of Blackheath (Blue Mountains) this Sunday Nov. 1

Bushwalking at Rodriguez Pass of Blackheath (Blue Mountains) this Sunday Nov. 1

The walk may be a little hard for some walkers, but is also one the most rewarding. The Grose Valley really does feel like another world, a place where you can sit on a boulder in the creek and contemplate what would happen if you went bush and never returned to “civilization” even again.

Meeting time and place

10:00 AM, Car Park at the end of Govetts Leap Road at Blackheath

Please SMS 0402 817 164 or MSN petercai08@hotmail.com for your confirmation.

It is compulsory to wear hiking/bushwalking shoes/boots.

Outdoor activities carry their own risks of injury and death. The Organizer has no any control over what the participant does, and cannot accept any liability for any loss or accidents which the participant might suffer.

Nine of us had buffet at St Marys Band Club after then.

All of us enjoyed very much (with different experience).

Specific Coastal Walk at Bondi this Sunday Nov 8

Specific Coastal Walk at Bondi this Sunday Nov 8

There will be specific coastal walk this Sunday Nov 8 at Bondi region, in order to support our team member (Katie)'s Sculpture exhibition.

More infomation on Sculpture by The Sea

http://www.sculpturebythesea.com/

Katie's sculpture "shoppers"

young ladies on the Qing porcelain
the sculpture intends to evoke thoughts that one often encounters in a commercial world full of temptation: (雕塑还原了当今充满诱惑的现实社会)
will one gain salvation through material satisfaction or be lost in a life of luxury?
the refined porcelain-like material in the shape of a shopping bag symbolises the exquisiteness yet fragility of such a life of luxury

This coastal walk from Bondi to Googee (return) is only about 12 KM for 5 hours, starting at Bondi Beach, lunch break at Googee.

This is Sydney's best known coastal walk and for good reason. It's a stunning path that hugs the clifftops and beaches all the way to Googee. There are cafes or kiosks at every beach, lifeguards to look out for you in the surf and saltwater pools at Bondi, Bronte, Clovelly and Googee. The narrow notch of Clovelly Bay also offers good snorkelling on a calm day- you can see large blue groper and many other fish. This walk is throngerd with joggers on a weekend morning so aim for a weekday if you are able to or start early and finish the walk with breakfast at a beachside cafe.

Meeting time and place
10 AM the 8th of Nov (Sunday), at the crossing of Campbell Pde and Notts Ave of Bondi Beach.

How to go
a) Get tyhere by bus
    I) 333 prepay only, 380: Circular Quay (Stand E) to Bondi Beach;
    II) 361 Bondi Junction (Stand K) to Tamarama;
    III) 381 Bondi Junction (Stand A) to Bondi Beach.
b) Get there by Car
    It is easy to get there by car, but it is trick to find free car park. It is recommended parking car a little far from beach and walking (up to 1000 meters) to the beach.

Everyone is very welcome to join.

Please SMS 0402 817 164 or SMS petercai08@hotmail.com for your intention.

Outdoor activities carry their ownrisks of injury and death. The Organizer has no any control over whatthe participant does, and cannot accept any liability for any loss oraccidents which the participant might suffer.

There will be one bushwalking/hiking "Leura to Katoomba via Dardanelles Pass" in Leura/Katoomba of Blue Mountains for this Sunday Dec 6, 2009. This is the last one in 2009 around Sydney region. We are heading to Milford Track of New Zealand for Dec 10-21, 2009 and Great Ocean Walk (of Victoria) for Dec 25, 2009 - Jan 3, 2010.

With approximately equal parts cliff-walk and forest track, this track truly shows what the cliff edges of the Jamison Valley have to offer, especially at Tarpeian and Fossil Rocks. There is a beautiful descent into the valley, as well as the mystique of Leura Forest, and a number of great spots to take a break along the way. The walk finishes with an exciting ride to the top of Scenic World on the world's steepest railway.

Meeting time and place
9:30AM at the Corner of Olympian Parade and  Lone Pine Avenue, Leura.

Please SMS 0402 817 164 or MSN petercai08@hotmail.com for your intnention.

It is compulsory to wear hiking/bushwalking shoes/boots.

Outdoor activities carry their own risks of injury and death. The Organizer has no any control over what the participant does, and cannot accept any liability for any loss or accidents which the participant might suffer.

Sydneyhiking Club

登山鞋(必备);
对讲机(二月份之后每人必备一个,Bushwalking会贴一些网站连接方便大家购买);
每天1.5-2升水(Bushwalking会在车里备一些,水没带够的TZ将被强制成本价购买);

容易(Easy):爬升400米以下,时间5小时以下;
中等(Medium):爬升400-600米,时间5-6小时;
中等偏难(Medium Hard):爬升600-800米,时间6-7小时;
难(Hard):爬升800-1000米,时间7-8小时左右;
