来自St George Preschool,也就是提供捐款账号的学校校长的邮件更新:
Good Morning Everyone,
Just an update for those at the initial preschool meeting.
Here is the information I sent to the participants of a case conference meeting this morning. Denise has also advised me this morning that transport for Cary has also now been arranged from the beginning of next term.
I will now be unable to attend the meeting this morning, so have recorded below a summary of what has taken place or been arranged to date with regards to the Wang family to share with the meeting. I have also attached some photographs of the clothing and toy donations received for your information.
After the fire occurred on Wednesday March 28th Cary was initially cared for by a preschool parent before relocating to Claire’s home at Burwood (his mother’s cousin). The grandparents arrived on Friday March 30th and a meeting was arranged at St. George’s Preschool on Monday April 2nd. Which was attended by the grandparents, Claire, Denise, Principal of Kent Road Public School, The Director and one of the Teachers from St. George’s Preschool, a child psychologist and a number of close family friends.
During this meeting the following points were covered:
1. This meeting contact details: Email/phone Number
2. What support does the immediate family feel they need?
Accommodation/Insurance: Bank Follow up
Clothing/food/toys
Assistance with school/preschool drop off/pick up (car seat)
Assistance with hospital visiting transportation
School holiday care
Fundraising
3. School and Preschool formalities
Return to school/preschool.
School uniform books etc
Child care attendance/fees
Emergency contacts/pick up authority.
4. Psychological support
5. Other considerations.
Family photos or photos of parents for Cary/Lucy
Participants were allocated tasks to follow up on and below is what has been undertaken.
The Principal of Kent Road Public School, Denise, spoke to the Director of Cary’s child care centre and they kindly agreed to a fee waiver period of 13 weeks, they are also able to assist with care for 5 days per week during the upcoming school holiday period.
Denise also arranged the vacation care providers at Kent Road to provide vacation care for Lucy. Denise arranged for Lucy to have a birthday celebration during school hours. Denise also organised a school uniform and any resources Lucy needed from a school perspective along with organising transport from the apartment near North Sydney to Lucy’s school each day from the beginning of the next school term. Transport for Cary is not available through this service and still needs to be organised.
Denise also liaised with Victor Dominello’s office who secured a $2300 donation from the salvation army.
Parents from Kent Road Public School and St. George’s Preschool Organised the purchase of initial supplies for the children such as clothing, backpacks, toys and drink bottles.
Jun Guo acted as an interpreter at the preschool meeting and then contacted the Chinese mothers’ group about the supply of clothing/food/toys. Jun also arranged a schedule for dropping off and picking up the children from preschool and school until the end of term. Jun has coordinated the collection of photos of the family and parents and had these printed and placed into albums for the children.
Jun circulated bank account information through her “wechat” group to organise donations for the family. As I write this, there is currently $144 180 being held in one of the preschool’s unused bank accounts most of which has come through the “wechat” connections.
Nellie Gong Collected all of the donations of clothing at her house and on Monday April 9thtransported them to St. George’s Preschool where they were sorted and boxed ready for the grandparents.
Rui Jia arranged Lucy's morning tea and lunch to be prepared by Kent Road PS mothers until the end of term.
Fan Jin and Chao Yin (Michael) have been nominated by the grandparents as emergency contacts for the school and preschool.
All of the people present at the meeting were authorised by the grandparents to pick up Cary from preschool. Anyone taking Cary in their car must have the correct car seat.
Jing (A preschool parent) Will make lunch and morning tea for Cary whilst at St. George’s. At day care no food is necessary.
Wendy One of the parents from Kent Road Public School, supported Lucy during her initial stay at Westmead Hospital along with a teacher from the School and her Mother’s cousin (Claire).
Pam Lawton (St. George’s Preschool Director) Organised an unused preschool bank account for funds to be deposited into. Pam also gave the grandparents an initial cash donation of $500 and organised for Cary’s preschool fees to be waived for one term. Pam organised an extension of the temporary accommodation at the hospital through the social worker at RNSH and then further accommodation through the North Sydney Sisters of Mercy in a three bedroom apartment near North Sydney which will be available from April 12th. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THIS ACCOMMODATION DOES NOT ATTRACT ANY MEDIA ATTENTION AND THAT THE GRANDPARENTS ARE ORIENTATED INTO THE APARTMENT BY THE APARTMENT OWNERS ONLY. (Transport will be arranged on this day and a mandarin speaking interpreter will be onsite to assist the grandparents on this day).
Pam met with the social worker at RNSH who has been a crucial link in assisting the family with numerous practicalities. The grandparents requested the social worker’s assistance to deal with banks and the Department of Immigration, she also spoke to them about the Guardianship Tribunal.
Elizabeth (Child Psychologist) Spoke to everyone at the meeting and has provided follow up support about reassuring both children that they are safe. Telling Lucy that the fire is over and she is safe and the importance of repeating this information to the children. Reassuring both of the children “your mum and dad are being looked after in the hospital”. Elizabeth said that it was important to be honest i.e if the children ask “how long will Mum be in hospital?” answer “we don’t know, but the doctors are looking after them”.
It is our understanding that a member of Hao’s family will arrive in Australia shortly. It will be important that they are consulted in terms of future planning and considered in the legalities of the current situation.
On Thursday April 5th Rowena from The Northern Centre called me to inform me about today’s meeting and Simon Zhou visited me on Friday April 6th to invite me to this meeting. Simon has told me that he has a team that is ready to assist the family moving forward. We are now “passing the baton” on to Simon and his team and wish you well with your forward planning today.
Regards,
Pam Lawton
