Child Care and Medical Centre Move In To Council Complex

The Hills Shire Council has agreed to two new tenants leases - a medical centre and child care centre - for Building C at 3 Columbia Court, Norwest Business Park, Baulkham Hills.

In 2013, Council moved from its administration building on Showground Road, Castle Hill to make way for the construction of the North West Rail Link. Council purchased a building complex in Norwest with floor space for additional commercial leases.

Hills Shire Mayor Clr Andrew Jefferies said that Council now has much of the free space filled, generating a revenue stream to assist Council to provide new amenities for residents and businesses in and around Norwest.

The new tenants are in addition to Maurice’s Café, which has operated at Council for 12 months.

“Now visitors to Council can pay their rates, grab a coffee at Maurice’s Cafe, visit The Hills Medical and Dental Centre, or drop the kids off at the Montessori-based ‘Young Scholars @ Norwest’ Child Care Centre, all in one complex,” Mayor Jefferies said.

“The move to Columbia Court has been a significant win for Hills ratepayers. Not only was the building purchased for a low price, Councillors and staff now work in a modern complex with underground parking.”

“The available commercial space, when all leased, will provide a substantial income stream for Council’s ratepayers well into the future.”

“This outcome means we have more money to invest in the construction and maintenance of critical local infrastructure for Hills residents and businesses."

“It’s another example of how this Council is doing everything it can to be fit for the future by making sound investment decisions.”

Mr Henry Bateman, General Manager of Medical Centres for Primary Health Care, said that The Hills Medical and Dental Centre would be open from 7am-10pm on weekdays, 8am-10pm on weekends and public holidays and offer a very wide range of medical services to Hills residents.

“We're pleased to be opening a new state-of-the art medical centre at Baulkham Hills to serve the Hills community's healthcare needs. The Hills Medical and Dental Centre will house 15 GPs and multiple visiting specialists including cardiologists and radiologists and will also include an onsite chemist for the convenience of its patients. We look forward to opening our doors to the community on 20 July,” Mr Bateman said.

Mrs Joan Stone, the Director of ‘Young Scholars @ Norwest’ Long Day Care Centre said she was excited to open another centre in The Hills, an area she has resided and taught within for most of her life.

“I’m so excited to not only open another centre but to also bring a training facility for local high school students who want to move into teaching. These facilities are going to be of real benefit to the community,” Mrs Stone said.

Mayor Jefferies encouraged businesses to investigate a lease at 3 Columbia Court.

“There is still an opportunity for other tenants to be a part of this exciting complex in Sydney’s premier business park at Norwest. I encourage businesses who wish to be a part of this innovative approach to inspect the opportunities.”
