Police have released images of a man they believe can assist with inquiries into an indecent assault in Sydney’s north last week.
Shortly before midnight on (Thursday 17 March 2016), a 22-year-old woman left her boyfriend to walk toward her home on Edgar Street, Chatswood.
As the woman walked up her front steps, she was grabbed from behind. The woman began to struggle and was pushed to the ground where she screamed for help.
The man ran around the side of the house and was last seen heading east on Western Way toward Jenkins Street.
Following the assault, the woman attended Chatswood Police Station to report the incident. Her clothes worn at the time were taken for forensic examination.
Police attached to North Shore Local Area Command have established the woman and her boyfriend got off a train at Chatswood Railway Station and were followed by the man.
Investigators have now released CCTV images of a person who may be able to assist with the investigation.
The man in the images is described as being of Asian appearance, aged in his early 20s, about 170cm tall and brown hair. He is shown to be wearing a white long sleeve shirt and black knee length shorts.
Officers encourage anyone who recognises the man to contact Crime Stoppers.
Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au/ Information you provide will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
