Bodies of woman and man found in unit on King Street in Newtown

The bodies of a woman and a man have been found inside a unit in Newtown, police say.
Emergency services were called to the unit on King Street about 5.30pm on Friday after an individual who knew the man and woman called with concerns for their welfare.
Officers arrived and found the bodies of the pair. The woman is aged in her 20s, and the man in his 30s, police said.
Police have established Strike Force Tenisonwood to investigate the deaths.
It is understood the man and woman knew each other.
Investigators suspected the deaths were a murder-suicide, said Inspector Geoff Olsen at Marrickville police. But he stressed they were investigating other possible scenarios.
Strike Force Tenisonwood consists of officers from the Newtown Local Area Command, with the assistance of the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad.
Detectives have asked anyone with information, and who hasn't already spoken with police, to come forward. |
