IT Contract需要自己买work cover insurance吗？

在现在的公司做contracter有一段时间了，我是以自己的公司名义签的contract,我的公司也只有我一个人。最近HR忽然发邮件要求提供work cover insurance的扫描件，按照合同我是应该提供的。不过我查了work cover的政府网站，像我应该属于sole trader, 没有其他雇员，应该是不需要也不能买work cover，请问做contracter的同学，你们要自己买work cover insurance吗？如果需要，是怎么买的呢？

谢谢两位。我就是查了work cover 政府网站，才更困惑的。我工作地点是NSW，公司总部QLD,我也查了QLD的workcover,sole trader是需要买work compensation保险的。也许各州法律不一样。我把链接转给了老板，看他们怎么说吧。

Sole trader and partnership

If you are a sole trader/proprietor or a member of a partnership, you are not a worker of your own business and cannot take out workers compensation insurance to cover yourself.

A workers compensation policy will only cover your employees if you have any.

If you are not an exempt employer and you employ any workers, or apprentices or trainees within the meaning of the Apprenticeship and Traineeship Act 2001, you will need to take out a workers compensation policy to cover them.

A personal accident and illness or an income protection insurance policy may be suitable alternative insurance options for sole traders or the partners of a partnership. Please note that it is not a legal requirement to take out this type of insurance in the same way that workers compensation insurance is a legal requirement for employers.

If you are hired as a worker by someone else, that person may need to take out a workers compensation policy to cover you.

Examples

Barry is an electrical contractor. Barry is a sole trader/proprietor with no workers. Barry is not eligible to take out workers compensation insurance.

Steve and Jason are tilers and conduct their business as a partnership. As they employ an apprentice Steve and Jason are required to take out workers compensation insurance to cover the apprentice. The workers compensation insurance does not cover Steve and Jason.

More and more business take advantage of 'sub-contractor agreement' to reduce its obligations/costs, like withholding PAYG tax, paying Super, provide paid leaves (sick leave, annual leave, and long service leave).

When it comes to workcover, it is always tricky. There is a recent case of workcover claim (Australa Post-Biker delivery against Australia Post). If you are interested, google it.

For your case, I remember the workcover calculation including 'Contrators', less likely you need to buy your own workcover. However, best to confirm with following NSW contact since you are performing services in NSW.

谢谢大家的关注和信息。我的ABN是以sole trader的名义注册的，打电话给保险公司咨询，work compensation是不能cover的。如果是以公司名义注册ABN，就可以买work compensation.我再问问HR,看看买别的保险行不行。

我把sole trader不能买work compensation的官方网站连接发给了HR，HR建议我买Personal Accident Insurance for directors of companies.
我的super里有death and permanent disable insurance and temporary salary continuance insurance.于是我向super公司要了statement,发给了HR.目前还没有得到HR的回复，我想应该可以了。
