The International Olympic Committee is not considering ending the torch relay, IOC president Jacques Rogge told France 3 television station. When asked about the possibility of the torch relay being stopped, Rogge said: "It's a false rumour. There is no discussion underway on the matter and we do not envisage such a scenario. "We will of course analyse the route of the torch since the beginning, from Olimpia to Paris although the next stage is San Francisco. That's what we are doing and we will make regular evaluations." However Rogge emphasised: "We are not in the dynamic of stopping (the relay)." After a controversial stop in London and with the carrying of the torch turning into chaos in Paris yesterday, many had predicted discussions within the Olympic movement of the possible ending of the relay. |
