Atar是什么？
既然是百分比，那不就是0.05%得99.95， 10%得90分，20%得80分，中位数50吗？下面数字怎么回事？

This year, 46 students got the highest possible ATAR of 99.95, the Universities Admissions Centre, which administers the rank, has revealed.

Of the 57,061 students eligible for an ATAR,
48.5% got 70.00 or above,
32.7% got an ATAR of at least 80.00
and 16.4% got an ATAR of 90.00 or above.

The median ATAR this year was 69.00, slightly higher than last year's median.

据说ATAR的分数是基于当年应该有的全部学生的人数来算的， 比如按澳洲政府规定， 十一年级之前是必须有的义务教育，每个学生都应该学完。假如这一届的新州十年级时曾经有80，000学生。到11年级有20，000去当学徒，去工作去了，只有60，000上11， 12年级。实际能拿HSC的学生中中位数是第30，000名， 应该得62.5%， 得50%的应该是第40，000的学生。 最后一名得25%。而99.95的学生应该是40人。

这也就是中位数不在50%的原因。 解释清楚了吧。

其实昆州决定以后有ATAR后如果学生的ATAR低于30%就不报具体成绩了， 只是笼统地说小于30%。

基于上面的推算，新州今年的总青少年人数应该为93，000多人，有57，061人参加了考试，得到了HSC，
有46个99.95%的， 其余的推算都是合理的了。
按93，0000来算
99.95的学生93000x0.05%=46,

57061中间位的28530名。 其成绩是28503/93000x100%=30.69% so the median is 69%.

The ATAR is a rank, not a mark. It is a number between 0.00 and 99.95 and indicates a student’s position relative to all the students who started high school with them in Year 7. So, an ATAR of 80.00 means that you are 20% from the top of your Year 7 group, not your Year 12 group.

是按7年级时的学生总数，而不12年级
