Let us start the first mountains this Sunday Jan. 10 to celebrate succesful year 2009 and welcome the year 2010.

"On Top of the World" in Leure, Blue Mountains will be the first and easy track (in my record)
for everyone who are keen to join bushwalking/hiking in 2010. It is only 8 KM, and allow 4 hours to allow time for the views.

The Walk to Lockley Pylon commands 360 degree view over the WorldHertiage Park. It is a "top of tghe world feeling' to look acrossrugged cliff faces and down ro the valleyss below. From the road thefoot track leads on a steady incline along a ridge through health-landand scrub to the high point. There are views all the way to pylon.

We could discuss our policy after then and have a FB (for dinner) somewhere in Sydney.

Meeting time and place

10:00AM at the Crossing of Churchill Street and Mount Hay Road, Leura.

Please SMS 0402 817 164 or MSN petercai08@hotmail.com for your intnention.

It is compulsory to wear hiking/bushwalking shoes/boots.

The tracks walked since March 2010

Specific Bushwalking at Katoomba of Blue Mtn this Sunday Feb 28, 2010

There will be one specificbushwalking/hiking at Katoomba region of Blue Mountains this sunday Feb28, 2010 in order to welcome our Mebourne guys visiting Sydney.

We will pick up one of these two tracks

1) Goldern Staircase to Ruined Castle
2) Golden Staircase to Mt Solitary via Ruined Castle

Goldern Staircase to Ruined Castle:Entering into the Jamison Valley via the popular Golden Staircase, thistrail climbs one of the most recognizable landmarks in the JamisonValley – The Ruined Castle. A beautiful rock formation, this offersgreat views over the valley as far as Wentworth Falls and also back toKatoomba.

Golden Staircase to Mt Solitary via Ruined Castle:  Withquite significant hills, this is a great walk is for the day-walkerlooking for something more challenging than the average Katoomba clifftop walk. With fantastic views at Botting's Lookout, from the top ofthe Ruined Castle, and especially good views from Mt Solitary, thiswalk is well worth the time invested.

The meeting time and place

9:45 AM 28th of February, Sunday, at car park ofGolden Stairs, the crossing of Golden Stairs track and GlenraphaelDrive of Katoomba, Blue Mountains.

Garie Beach to Garawarra to Burning Palms Circuit

This circuit track of 13.5 KM willtake 6-7 hours, with "medium-hard" grade. This track could be adjusted(to shorten or other tracks around Garie Beach), depending on weathercondition for this Sunday.

Using a variety of tracks, this walk follows thecoast as well as going inland to Garrawarra Farm. With great coastalviews and a magnificent palm jungle, this walk demonstrates perfectly, the diversity of the Royal National Park. Of historical significanceare the houses scattered along the coast that were built during thedepression. Take some time along the way to have a cool down at one ofthe many fantastic beaches.

joining bushwalk at Dharug National Park next Wisemans Ferry today.

19 of us had coffee/beer/playing killers game at yard of 170 year old hotel of peaceful little town St. Albans after walk. Everyone enjoyed very much with different experience.

We are going to walk at Lane Cove National Park (between Eastwood and Hornsby) this Saturday May 8, 2010.

There are three options for the tracks, and all starting/finishing points could be accessed by car, train.

Eastwood to Thorneligh (one way)
Eastwood to Thorneligh (return way)
Eastwood to Hornsby via Thronleigh (one way)

Eastwood to Thornleigh (10.4 KM, 3.0-3.5 hours, 320 meters ascent for one way; or 21 KM, 6-7.5 hours, 500 meters ascent for return way)
This walk explores Terrys Creek and the Lane Cove National Park. From Eastwood station the track follows Terrys creek past a small waterfall, under the M2, past Browns Water hole and along the Lane Cove river before climbing up to Thornleigh Oval and the train station. There are picnic tables at Browns waterhole, not a bad place for lunch, otherwise there are a few nice creek banks to rest along the way

Eastwood to Hornsby via Thronleigh (20 KM, 6-8 hours, 810 meters ascent)
Initially following Terry's Creek, and then the Lane Cove River, this walk goes through some of the prettier sections of the Lane Cove National Park before climbing up to Thornleigh and continuing into the Berowra Valley Regional Park. Following Berowra Creek and the side of the valley, the surrounds change from the wet environment of Lane Cove to the dry scrub and bushland of Berowra. The walk continues until climbing out, up to Hornsby Railway Station, through a remnant of the old Blue Gum High Forest.

The meeting time and place

9:30 AM, Saturday 8th of May, at the car park of Railway Pde of Eastwood.

It was the second time to visit south-west China and the first time to 四川.

The aim  for this visit is to walk at the famous mountains such as Mt Emei and other mountains in 四川 and make new friends.  It was amaizing to see a lot of people (age range from 25 to 60's) ride bicycle from Chengu to Lhasa via "motorway 318" (which take about 25 days), and very few real walkers on the road (which will take 3-4 months) as well.

It is well known 成都小吃. I benfited very much from 成都小吃, and got plenty energy before hiking at the Mount Emei and others.

It took me 12 hours (one and half days) to complete hiking at 峨眉山 with 负重 14 KG.

Day one afternoon (from 3:00 PM), from  黄湾charge station -  报国寺 - 里音寺 - 纯阳殿 - 清音阁 - 猴区 - 清音阁 - 万年寺 - Xiaoping route - 万年寺 parking station (finishing at 7:30 PM, 22 KM with over 1000 meters 上升)

Day two (from 8:00 AM), from  万年寺 parking station - Xiaoping route - 万年寺 -  长老坪 - 华严顶 -  洗象池 - 雷洞坪 - 接引殿 - 金顶 (finishing at 15:30 PM, 32 KM with over 2000 meters 上升).

We spent other night days on 川西最后净土海螺沟,莲花湖,泉华滩及川西环线丹巴温泉之旅, and enjoyed very much with different experience.

Re-visit Royal National Park Queen’s birthday long weekend (June 13-14 2010)

Costal walking at Royal National Park is always attractive. This track is one of my favor tracks and I walked whole track several times (for one day only) and enjoyed very much.  This long weekend (Queen’s birthday) with prefect weather forecast is favorable to two days walking with one night camping along the track; with additional bonus of seeing whales.

June 13, Sunday, Bundenna (8:30 am) - Wattamolla (Kiosk) (12:00-12:30 PM) -
Garie Beach (14:30-15:00 PM) - North Era Campground (15:30 PM)

June 14, Monday, Garie Beach (10:00 AM) - Otford (14:00 PM).

Meeting time and place for whom wishes to start walking from
Bundenna for Day one: 7:50 AM Sunday (June 13) at Garie Beach Car Park.

any thanks

Let us make short bushwalking at Glenbrook of Blue Mountains in the morning and 采荠菜 at Penrith in the afternoon for this Sunday, June 20, 2010.

Walking track: Glenbrook – Euroka Clearing – Nepean River (return, 8 KM, 2-3 hours, easy)

Euroka is a great place to take overseas visitors for a picnic. As you’re almost guaranteed to see kangaroos. The site of an ancient volcanic vent formed at least 150 million years ago, these days Euroka is a small valley with fertile soil and grassy clearings. This track makes a circuit that starts and finishes at Euroka, visiting the Nepean River along the way.

9:00 AM of June 20, Sunday at Car Park next to Blue Mountains Visitor Center at Glenbrook;

or 12:30 PM,  Car Park at Tench Reserve (of Tench Avenue and Jamison Road), Jamisontown (Penrith) for lunch

We are going to walk “I THINK I CAN” at Glenbrook of Blue Mountain this Saturday August 7, 2010

I think I Can: A highlight of this walk is chance to get a close up view of the Knapsack Viaduct, completed in 1867. It was the most celebrated structure in the colony for many years. The viaduct carried the first trains crossing the Blue Mountains. The gradient was so steep that the trains needed to take the ascent in short sections. This was achieved by the engine pulling the load up to a switch point. The train as then switched to the rails parallel to the first leg on the next gradient. The engine then pushed the train up to the next level. This walk is along what remains of the old zigzag route as well as along a later cutting to a tunnel designed to by-passed the zigzag. A lookout over Glenbrook Gorge with the railway beneath our feet is following by a view into the Blue Mountains National Park to round off this history journey.

Meeting time and places

9:30 AM of August 7, 2010 at Car Park next to Blue Mountains Visitor Center at Glenbrook

We are going to see Deer and bushwalk at Royal National Park this Sunday August 29 2010.
The Deer Stalker

This loop track of about 15 KM with “easy” grade will take 4-5 hours

The beauty of the forest encouraged park management to make a Forest Park Track in 1886 “to open up the park to the public.” Well done!

The walk explored an area, where deer can be seen. Early settlers, to provide more familiar animals than kangaroos, introduced deer. They are still here in limited numbers. Walkers need to be observant, as deer are shy. They are likely to be seen by the creek before reaching the rock pool or on the forest path after leaving Lady Carrington Track.

The meeting time and place

10:00 AM, Sunday 29th of August, at Car Park of Waterfall train station.
GPS S34º8´6.23", E 150º59´43.15"

It is compulsory to wear hiking/bushwalking shoes/boots.

Please SMS 0402 817 164 or MSN petercai08@hotmail.com for your confirmation.

for joining bushwalk at Royal National Park today.

16 of us walked 15 KM for near 6 hours including 10 min morning tea and 30 min lunch break and coffee time.  Everyone enjoyed very much although we did not see Deers.

Based on my own experience,  limited numbers up to 5 persons in group could have chance of seeing Deers at site, but  we are 16 today, so ...... you could image
